Job Summary

The Laboratory Engineer – Concrete & Aggregate is responsible for conducting material testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and supporting quality control activities for concrete and aggregate materials. The role ensures laboratory operations meet international standards while supporting site teams with timely and accurate test results.




Job Responsibilities 1

Material Testing & Analysis


  • Perform testing of concrete, aggregates, cement, and related construction materials as per ASTM, BS, and project specifications.
  • Analyze test results and identify non-conformance or quality deviations.

Laboratory Operations


  • Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and operational readiness.
  • Ensure laboratory testing procedures are followed consistently.

Quality Control Support


  • Provide technical support to QA/QC and site teams regarding material performance.
  • Monitor compliance of incoming materials with approved mix designs.

Sampling & Inspection


  • Conduct field sampling of concrete and aggregates in coordination with site teams.
  • Ensure proper sample handling and documentation.

Documentation & Reporting


  • Prepare laboratory test reports and maintain testing records.
  • Ensure traceability of test results and materials.

Compliance & Standards


  • Ensure adherence to ISO, ASTM, BS, and project specifications.
  • Support internal and external audits.

Coordination


  • Liaise with site engineers, QA/QC engineers, and consultants.
  • Assist in resolving material-related technical issues.

Safety & Laboratory Housekeeping


  • Maintain safe laboratory practices and proper storage of materials.

Ensure compliance with HSE requirements.

Concrete Testing Knowledge: Understanding of slump, compressive strength, durability, and mix evaluation.


Aggregate Testing Expertise: Familiarity with sieve analysis, abrasion, and specific gravity tests.


Laboratory Standards Compliance: Knowledge of ASTM, BS, and ISO testing procedures.


Quality Documentation: Ability to prepare technical laboratory reports.


Site Coordination: Capability to support site teams with technical recommendations.




Job Experience

5–8 years of experience in construction materials laboratory.


Experience in concrete and aggregate testing.


Experience supporting large construction or infrastructure projects.
