As a Civil Commodity Expert within SEIL, you will lead strategic sourcing and supplier management for key civil commodities including structural steel, PEB structures, bolts and fasteners, reinforcement steel, and associated civil construction packages. You will provide deep market intelligence, develop civil contractors and suppliers, define commodity strategies, and support project execution through proactive risk management and value optimization. Operating with a strong ownership mindset, you will collaborate closely with engineering, project management, quality, and EHS teams to ensure technically compliant, cost-effective, and safe procurement solutions. Your role will be instrumental in supplier development, standardization, and long-term capacity building aligned with Siemens Energy’s business growth and sustainability objectives. If you are driven to create impact through strategic procurement leadership, this role offers the opportunity to shape civil commodity sourcing strategies for complex HVDC and FACTS projects. As a senior procurement expert, you will act as the regional reference for civil commodities, ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, supplier capability, and EHS compliance across project lifecycles. Your new role – challenging and future-oriented: • Bring 17–18 years of progressive experience in SCM / procurement, including extensive hands-on expertise in civil commodities for large EPC / infrastructure projects, preferably within multinational engineering environments. • Act as the regional commodity owner for civil packages such as structural steel, PEB, bolts & fasteners, reinforcement steel, and site-related civil works, ensuring alignment with global and regional commodity strategies. • Define and implement commodity sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and EHS requirements while supporting long-term supplier partnerships. • Conduct comprehensive market and cost analysis for civil commodities, including price trends, supply-demand dynamics, localization opportunities, and regulatory impacts within the Indian market. • Lead supplier identification, qualification, evaluation, and development, with particular focus on supplier capability, scalability, financial stability, and EHS performance. • Negotiate commercial terms, framework agreements, and long-term contracts to ensure cost competitiveness, supply security, and risk mitigation for project execution. • Provide expert input on material specifications, alternative sourcing options, and value engineering initiatives, in close coordination with engineering and project teams. • Proactively identify procurement risks related to market volatility, capacity constraints, logistics, or compliance, and implement mitigation plans including alternate suppliers and sourcing models. • Drive supplier performance management, including KPIs related to cost, delivery, quality, sustainability, and EHS compliance. • Support supplier development initiatives to strengthen local and emerging suppliers for HVDC and FACTS project requirements. • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to Siemens Energy policies, ethical standards, EHS guidelines, and statutory requirements. • Generate, document, and report cost savings, productivity improvements, and procurement KPIs, providing transparent updates to internal stakeholders. • Act as a key interface between procurement, engineering, project management, quality, and EHS teams, ensuring seamless execution across the project lifecycle. We don’t need superheroes, just super minds: • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical qualification; additional qualifications in supply chain or management are an advantage. • 17–18 years of relevant experience in procurement / supply chain management with strong specialization in civil and structural commodities for large-scale EPC or infrastructure projects. • Deep technical and commercial knowledge of structural steel, PEB systems, bolts & fasteners, reinforcement steel, and civil construction materials. • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and long-term contract management. • Strong understanding of Indian supplier markets, construction practices, and regulatory environment. • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior management level. • High level of ownership, accountability, and results orientation in a matrix and multicultural organization.
