JOB PURPOSE
Ensure effective governance, implementation, and compliance of Engineering Design Systems and Engineering Information Management in alignment with ADNOC Group Engineering Standards. Provide technical oversight for engineering design data, drafting activities, SmartPlant systems, and engineering information integrity throughout the asset lifecycle, supporting project execution, modification (MOC), and asset information management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Engineering Design Systems & Compliance
- Ensure all numbering systems, document control procedures, and Engineering Design & Information Management application models are implemented accurately to maintain consistency and reduce errors in drawings and technical documents.
- Review and validate all engineering design deliverables to ensure compliance with ADNOC Group Standards, SmartPlant specifications, and Engineering Information Management requirements.
- Participate in Engineering Design Systems and information compliance audits and implement corrective actions.
Ensure integrity, consistency, and traceability of engineering information across drawings, databases, and digital engineering systems.
As‑Built, Digitization & MOC Activities
- Develop scopes of work for as‑builting, digitization, and engineering information update projects.
- Oversee drafting and design activities related to MOCs, Technical Projects, EPC Projects, and digitization programs to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Support SmartPlant database updates and ensure all engineering information changes are captured as per MOC requirements.
Drafting Office Management
- Supervise multidisciplinary draftsmen to ensure accurate development and updating of engineering drawings.
- Review drafting/design requests, evaluate requirements, and allocate tasks to draftsmen/designers.
- Manage the checking, verification, and approval workflows for all drawings issued by the drawing office.
- Supervise drafting activities across plants, pipelines, and headquarters to ensure deliverables are completed per company standards and schedules.
- Provide technical guidance to contractors/vendors during drawing development to ensure compliance with ADNOC standards.
Engineering Drawings & 3D Model Management
- Review and validate 2D project drawings extracted from 3D models and SmartPlant Instrumentation/Electrical systems, including vendor-supplied documents.
- Oversee the publishing of TEF deliverables into Engineering Information Management System (SPF).
- Support the upload, maintenance, and integrity of 3D native files and associated deliverables used for generating 2D drawings.
Drafting Quality, Queries & Issue Resolution
- Review and resolve drafting technical queries and issue logs arising from Select, Define, Execute, and Digitization Projects.
- Review and register Asset Engineering Information queries from site users, identify root causes, and coordinate with stakeholders for resolution.
Design & Drafting Execution
- Develop mechanical, process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation drawings for in-house projects using SmartPlant, AutoCAD, and MicroStation applications.
- Update existing drawings based on site verification and coordination.
- Develop drawings and documentation for tender packages.
- Prepare Bills of Material for in-house MOC projects.
- Conduct site visits to verify as-built accuracy and ensure alignment with engineering records.
- Review received as-built drawings for compliance with ADNOC drafting procedures.
- Update MoC documentation and coordinate the preparation of up-to-date microfilms of as-built drawings.
Documentation & Information Management
- Ensure all project and engineering documents/drawings comply with company standards and are stored, controlled, and maintained in designated engineering information management systems.
- Initiate, review, and update drafting office standards, guidelines, and procedures to meet evolving business requirements.
Tagging & Numbering
- Implement and maintain engineering tagging and numbering systems for equipment, instruments, pipelines, and drawings in accordance with approved numbering conventions.
- Allocate and control new tag numbers and drawing numbers for Select, Define, and Execute phase projects.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 10 years’ experience in Engineering Information Management, SmartPlant application support, or related design systems roles within a large industrial organization (preferably Oil & Gas).
- Proficient in SmartPlant Enterprise applications and Drafting Services.
- Working knowledge of other SmartPlant disciplines and EIMS platforms.
- Experience in specifications/standards development and engineering information management implementation.
- Strong planning, organizing, checking, and documentation skills.
- Customer-focused, goal-oriented, with good knowledge of HSE practices.
