Monitor structural welding activities in accordance with approved drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and safety protocols, to ensure high-quality, timely, and compliant fabrication of structural components, in alignment with the IMI Management System standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.
1. Maintain a safe and organized work environment by ensuring proper lighting, ventilation, clear access paths, fire extinguishers, and tidy cable management.
2. Comply with all safety regulations and work standards, consistently using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
3. Participate actively in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and other safety-related meetings to promote a culture of safety.
4. Execute assigned welding tasks within the specified timeframes to meet project deadlines and productivity targets.
5. Follow instructions from supervisors and refrain from making unauthorized decisions or changes to work procedures.
6. Perform welding tasks only after obtaining the required qualifications and certifications, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
7. Interpret technical drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) accurately before commencing any welding activities.
8. Operate and inspect welding equipment and tools to ensure they are in proper working condition and used safely and effectively.
High School diploma or equivalent qualification (Welding apprentice)
• At least 9 years’ experience in the Shipyard/Ship repair Industry.
• Certified 2G,3G welder (ABS/Class Certified).
• Optional ability: Folk lift driving license.
• Familiar with the common welding types: shielded metal arc welding
(SMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW)
• 2G, 3G qualified.
• Inspecting materials, welding equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective
clothing (such as face- shield, gloves etc.,)
Understanding various welding processes, Weld symbols, Weld maps,
as well as cutting and grinding and gouging operations.
• Must not have acrophobia, claustrophobia.
• Good oral communication skills in English.
• Good Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
