Description
- Provide technical support for Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs) and other training devices, including attending maintenance calls, device setup, conversions, demonstrations, simulator flight tests, and snag clearance activities.
- Independently perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks (PMTs), Daily Readiness (DR), recurrent QTG runs, Aircraft Database (ADB) updates, and IOS Lesson Plan (LP) updates on training devices and associated systems, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with established standards.
- Ensure deficiencies identified during maintenance, readiness, or QTG activities are properly followed up, actioned, and closed within required timelines.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve training device issues, including Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events and issues raised by National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
- Perform hardware refurbishment and modifications, identify recurring issues, and contribute to the development of permanent corrective solutions.
- Monitor SimHub and SimIssues for updates and use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record, track, review, update, and monitor deficiencies and maintenance activities.
- Produce reports for TCOPS Management to support performance monitoring and trend analysis.
- As assigned, act in roles such as Shift Lead, Team Lead, Device Caretaker, or Task Caretaker, managing all aspects of the assigned role autonomously.
- Create, improve, and update procedures and guidelines for new, routine, and non-routine tasks.
- Collaborate with FSTD Technical Specialists on issues requiring advanced testing and troubleshooting, and support special projects based on Training Center operational needs.
- Mentor and provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to junior colleagues, supporting complex tasks and corrective maintenance activities.
- Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills to progress toward subject matter expertise in one or more FSTD systems (e.g., Visual, Motion, Flight Controls, QTGs).
- Comply with all local and global CAE Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards, instructions, and safe working procedures, exercising duty of care for personal health and safety and that of others.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical College Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience supporting Flight Simulation Training Devices or comparable technical systems.
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Strong customer orientation with the ability to act professionally and tactfully in sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules and shift patterns.
- Solid understanding of aircraft and FSTD terminology.
- Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, and other technical documentation related to FSTDs.
- Proven capability to perform Preventive Maintenance Tasks and Daily Readiness activities on FSTDs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in the use of test equipment and software diagnostic tools.
- Good understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, motion, and visual systems.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of computer architecture, networking, operating systems (Windows NT/XP, UNIX, Linux, AIX), and programming languages (C, C++, FORTRAN).
- Basic knowledge of local and international regulations (EASA, FAA, etc.) applicable to Flight Simulation Training Devices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience acting in a lead role (Shift Lead, Team Lead, Device Caretaker, or equivalent).
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or technicians in a simulator or training environment.
- Exposure to QTG activities, simulator acceptance processes, or authority-related evaluations.
- Experience supporting multiple FSTD systems or complex training center operations.
