The Principal Data Scientist is a senior technical expert and delivery owner within Teknosys' Data Science Practice.
This role is responsible for independently driving 2–3 high-complexity data science and AI projects end-to-end — from architecture and development through to deployment and business adoption.
The Principal Data Scientist is the technical authority within the scope of their assigned projects.
They set quality standards for their workstreams, mentor junior resources working alongside them, and ensure their solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
• Own end-to-end delivery of 2–3 high-complexity data science and AI projects simultaneously — from problem scoping and architecture through to production deployment and performance monitoring • Lead the design and architecture of scalable AI and ML systems within assigned projects, ensuring alignment with technical standards and business requirements • Develop and oversee complex machine learning models using advanced techniques (deep learning, ensemble methods, time-series forecasting) and frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow • Architect production AI solutions within project scope, including RAG platforms (LangChain, LlamaIndex), Agentic AI systems, and fine-tuned LLM deployments • Build and maintain scalable ML pipelines leveraging cloud infrastructure (AWS SageMaker, Redshift, Lambda) and MLOps best practices (Docker, MLflow, CI/CD) • Conduct thorough technical reviews of modelling approaches, data strategies, and AI architectures within assigned project workstreams • Define and enforce quality standards — including documentation, reproducibility, and evaluation frameworks — for projects under ownership • Mentor and guide junior and associate data scientists embedded within or contributing to their projects — through hands-on pairing, code reviews, and structured feedback • Manage stakeholder relationships for assigned projects, communicating progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and business audiences • Contribute to the broader team's technical knowledge by sharing learnings and reusable components from project work Why Join Teknosys?

What are we looking for and what does it require to be a Principal Data Scientist?
• 6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or AI • Deep expertise in statistical modelling, advanced machine learning, and AI system design • Strong programming skills in Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas) and SQL • Proven experience independently designing, building, and delivering large-scale AI/ML systems in production environments • Extensive hands-on experience with LLMs and Generative AI; proven ability to architect and deploy LLM-powered applications • Experience building production AI systems such as RAG-based platforms (LangChain, LlamaIndex) and Agentic AI applications • Proficiency with cloud-based AI infrastructure, preferably AWS (SageMaker, Redshift, Lambda, S3) • Solid experience with MLOps practices including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, and experiment tracking (MLflow, DVC) • Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end project delivery and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
