Position Summary The AI Engineer Intern is an early-career, hands-on builder who contributes to AI-enabled software systems that deliver real value in production.
This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI, supporting product and platform teams by implementing scoped features, fixing defects, and improving workflows using AI—under guidance from more senior engineers.
This is not a research role and not a model-training role.
AI Engineer Interns focus on practical implementation: integrating existing AI capabilities (LLMs, AI APIs, orchestration tools, automation) into established architectures safely and reliably, while learning best practices for evaluation, monitoring, and maintainability.
Essential Job Functions AI Engineering & Development Implement well-scoped AI-assisted features and supporting services in production codebases under guidance.
Fix defects and improve reliability of AI-enabled components, prompts, and workflow logic.
Integrate AI APIs and tooling into existing applications following established patterns and standards.
Write unit/integration tests and documentation for delivered changes.
AI-First Software Development Use AI tools responsibly in daily work (coding assistance, test generation, debugging, documentation).
Follow team guidance for safe AI usage (data handling, verification, prompt hygiene, fallback behaviors).
Contribute small automations that increase engineering leverage (scripts, internal tools, workflow improvements).
Collaboration & Delivery Work with Product, Engineering, and QA partners to deliver assigned work items end-to-end.
Communicate progress, risks, and questions early; incorporate feedback quickly.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews (as a learner), and team ceremonies.
Quality, Reliability & Accountability Ensure changes meet team standards for security, performance, and maintainability.
Add basic observability (logging/metrics) where applicable and follow incident/bug processes.
Own assigned tasks through completion, including addressing issues discovered during QA or after release.
Continuous Learning Build foundational knowledge of applied AI patterns: prompting basics, orchestration concepts, evaluation methods, and failure modes.
Learn how to validate AI behavior in product contexts (accuracy, safety, regressions) using team-defined approaches.

Qualifications Required Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (rising junior or senior preferred).
Foundational software engineering skills (debugging, data structures, version control, testing).
Exposure to applied AI in software (projects, internships, coursework, or work experience) such as LLM usage, AI APIs, or automation.
Exposure to developing with CLI tools (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, etc.
) Ability to deliver small-to-medium scoped tasks reliably with guidance and feedback.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred Familiarity with modern development stacks and cloud fundamentals (services, APIs, CI/CD).
Exposure to secure development practices and handling sensitive data.
Basic understanding of how to evaluate AI outputs (quality checks, regression tests, human review patterns).
Experience contributing to SaaS or enterprise software environments.
