Service The LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer is part of the team for an LNG Bunkering Project, a key initiative within the client's energy transition strategy. In this critical role, they will be responsible for ensuring the preparation of the start-up and to assist the Commissioning and Start-up Team during the start-up phase. They will report directly to the Commissioning & Start-up Methods Lead.
The LNG Start-up & Operations Engineer shall prepare start-up procedures and the operating procedures in cooperation with the Operation team. They shall also ensure documents availability for Operation requirements at first Gas in.
This LNG project relies on a LEAN organization with multi-competencies personnel. This Job Description is not exhaustive and only highlights the key activities, responsibilities and accountabilities.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Project Phase: Commissioning and Start-up preparation:
- Review all Commissioning procedures prepared by Contractors.
- Issue start-up sequences and procedures, in coordination with the Engineering, Commissioning and Start-Up and Operations Teams.
- Prepare and Update the operating procedures in cooperation with the operation team.
- Prepare and issue the specific procedures not prepared by Contractor.
- Ensure the procedure are on-line with the commissioning sequence.
- Ensure the procedures are on-line with Vendors recommendation.
- Ensure interface with others: contractors, vendors etc., are clearly identified on the procedure.
- Participate in workshop meeting related to the Operational Test Procedure.
- Review and approve performance test plan prepared by Contractor.
- Prepare start-up checks support (isolation, spading, temporaries,) to be used by Commissioning & Start-up team prior to Gas In.
Commissioning and start-up execution:
- Ensure all necessary Procedure and Manuals are complete, reviewed and approved by Company.
- During start-up, to follow up the pre-start-up sequence and assist the commissioning and start-up Team in the planning and evaluation of the tasks, participate in the risk analysis and define the consumables and necessary temporary equipment. They shall prepare the parameters data and the initial status for each system (blind, bypass, etc.).
- Ensure the progress is in accordance with priorities driven by the Commissioning and Start-up sequence.
- Report immediately any unexpected events which may affect the Commissioning or the Start-up of the plant.
Initial Operation Phase: - Assist the Operation team for stabilisation / optimisation phase
HSE- Adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSE, apply and proactively promote the project's HSE policy and regulations.
- Ensure that all activities for Commissioning and start-up will be covered by well prepared and implemented procedures and covered by a PTW.
- Compliant with all HSE rules and regulations as per Oman Law
Personnel Development & Competency- Provide coaching and mentoring for future Field Operation Personnel integrated in Commissioning and Start-up Team.
- Support the training, and development for future Field Operation Personnel through competency-based plans.
General- Ensure that safety regulations and safe work practices are applied for Commissioning and Start up activities according to Company's and applicable international standards.
Technical Specifications- Prepare the parameters data sheet and the initial status for each system
- Optimize the production in terms of quality, chemical consumption, process stability etc.
Key interactions Internal: Plant Operations, Project, Engineering, Training
External: EPC Contractors, Vendors, Partners and Suppliers, Public entities representatives.
Education requirements: Master degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent qualification.,
Language requirements: Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)
Background and experience:
Professional Experience: +15 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry with proven experience with large onshore plants and LNG plants. Several years of proven experience in Commissioning and Operation stage of LNG projects.
Experience in similar position (years): +5 years’ experience.
