We are looking for dynamic, competent, and highly professional Sterilization Agents (M/F) to join the Pharmacy Department at UIR Hospital. They will participate in the entire process of reprocessing reusable medical devices, from their reception to their sterilization and traceability, in compliance with institutional procedures, good professional practices, hygiene and safety rules, as well as quality requirements applicable to hospital sterilization.
Your main tasks will focus on the following areas:
- Receive equipment to be sterilized, ensuring sorting, verification, control, and routing through the different stages of the reprocessing cycle, in accordance with current procedures
- Receive and store decontamination, cleaning, and packaging products necessary for sterilization activities, and participate in their management in compliance with storage and safety instructions
- Perform reprocessing of equipment and instruments before sterilization, including washing, drying, and packaging operations, using appropriate equipment and products according to established protocols
- Reassemble and compose sets, boxes, and instrument trays according to validated nomenclatures, compositions, and user needs, ensuring the conformity and integrity of the equipment
- Operate autoclaves and other authorized sterilization equipment, ensure their startup, loading, and unloading, and participate in the verification and validation of sterilization cycles in accordance with applicable procedures
- Record and register data and information related to the nature of sterilization activities, to ensure the traceability of equipment, cycles, treatment stages, and operations performed
- Report any malfunction, anomaly, or non-conformity detected during the different stages of the process, whether concerning equipment, devices, cycles, consumables, or the organization of the activity
- Ensure the maintenance and cleaning of work surfaces, stations, premises, and equipment used, in order to maintain an environment compliant with hospital sterilization hygiene, safety, and quality requirements
- Manage specific boxes and instruments according to the operating schedule, to ensure the availability of necessary equipment for interventions and the continuity of activity in operating rooms and user departments
- Ensure the safety of equipment and materials in the department, by applying usage instructions, handling rules, and risk prevention protocols
- Ensure compliance with professional rules, good sterilization practices, institutional procedures, and instructions related to the service's quality system
Required profile :
- Hold a diploma as an auxiliary nurse or healthcare assistant
- Specific training in hospital sterilization is desirable
- At least 3 years of experience in sterilization, hospital hygiene, reprocessing of medical devices, or technical hospital logistics
- Knowledge of traceability software, washing and sterilization equipment, as well as quality and safety requirements applicable in a hospital setting, is desired
- Be methodical and rigorous
- Have a sense of organization
- Have the ability to strictly follow instructions and protocols
