The RoleWe are seeking a mid-level Petrophysicist with strong experience in well log data management to support a large-scale project in Kuwait. This project emphases mainly on maintaining high-quality well logs data in a repository, preparing composite logs and the utilization of spliced logs in advanced geological workflows e.g., to estimate the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) from wireline logs using different methodologies etc. This key role is primarily focused on the management, quality control, conditioning, standardization, and maintenance of petrophysical datasets within AspenTech’s proprietary software for Formation Evaluation and Characterization (Aspen Geolog). This position is not intended for advanced reservoir characterization, formation evaluation, or interpretation studies. Candidates with experience in well log data management, data quality assurance, and digital transformation initiatives are encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the Director of Professional Services, this role will be responsible for delivering full-time, on-site services to one of AspenTech’s most strategic customers in the Middle East.
Reporting to the Director of Customer Enablement (On-Sites - SSE), the Sr Principal Customer Enablement Specialist – Petrophysicist will be responsible for delivering full-time, on-site support to one of AspenTech’s most strategic customers in the Middle East.
Your Impact- Manage and maintain well log datasets, including wireline, LWD, MWD, and cased-hole logs.
- Load, organize, validate, and maintain petrophysical data (field data, processed data, and interpreted data) within Aspen Geolog.
- Perform well log quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Review and resolve data quality issues, including missing intervals, depth mismatches, curve naming issues, and formatting discrepancies.
- Standardize, validate, certify, and maintain well log datasets, metadata, and quality management procedures.
- Generate composite and spliced logs, final LAS deliverables, and support repository management workflows.
- Support the loading and maintenance of newly drilled wells and updates to existing well data.
- Develop and improve workflows for data loading, validation, quality control, and reporting.
- Create dashboards, reports, and data quality metrics to monitor project performance and data in repository.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow optimization, and automation.
- Coordinate with geologists, petrophysicists, and data managers to ensure data quality and adherence to established standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues within Aspen Geolog and associated applications.
- Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and recommendations to senior management and customers.
- Work in close collaboration with the Project Manager and customer on the projects to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project activities.
- Collaborate with other AspenTech functions to maintain and develop business opportunities.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in Petrophysics, Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with at least minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Well Log Data Management.
- Strong understanding of wireline, LWD, MWD, and cased-hole logging data.
- Practical experience in log conditioning, log splicing, depth matching, normalization, quality control, and data certification workflows.
- Good understanding of Petrophysical topics like NMR, ECS, XRD, SONIC, PNL, PLT, TOC calculations etc.
- Familiarity with LAS standards, data exchange formats, and industry data management practices.
- Experience working with large volumes of well log data and corporate data repositories.
- Proven hands-on experience with AspenTech Formation Evaluation software (Aspen Geolog) and/or other petrophysical applications such as PowerLog, Techlog, DecisionSpace Petrophysics, or Interactive Petrophysics.
- Experience in subsurface data digitalization, workflow automation, data integration, dashboard development, and AI/ML-driven solutions for data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, validation, and process optimization using tools such as Python, TCL, or similar technologies.
- Ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers with a strong customer first mindset.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary subsurface teams.
