Job Purpose

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for providing civil engineering support for onsite oil and gas projects in Basra, Iraq. The role involves overseeing construction activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project specifications while supporting timely and cost-effective project execution.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute and supervise civil engineering works including foundations, concrete works, earthworks, drainage, and structural elements within oil and gas facilities.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate site execution.
• Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with HSE standards, quality requirements, and KBR procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, technical assessments, and progress reporting.
• Identify and resolve civil engineering issues encountered during construction.
• Ensure materials, workmanship, and construction practices meet project and industry standards.
• Support commissioning and handover activities as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and as-built records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on civil engineering experience.
• Proven experience working onsite within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience in brownfield and/or greenfield oil and gas projects is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles related to oil and gas facilities.
• Experience with concrete structures, foundations, steel supports, pavement, and drainage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings.
• Familiarity with international engineering codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, BS, etc.).
• Understanding of construction sequencing and site management practices.
• Working knowledge of HSE requirements in oil and gas environments.
• Proficiency in engineering and construction documentation.
• Basic knowledge of software tools such as AutoCAD and MS Office.
