Position: Transport Manager - India
Location: India (with focus on Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad)
Reports To: Account Director
Direct Reports: Approximately 20 team members
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to lead and optimize employee transportation operations across multiple Indian locations. This governance-focused role requires strategic oversight of vendor partnerships, compliance management, and team leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and policy-compliant transportation services for our workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Management & Governance:
Monitor and evaluate performance of fleet vendors, routing vendors, transport technology providers, and cab marshals to ensure adherence to client transport policies and service level agreements. Conduct regular vendor reviews, manage contracts, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all vendor partnerships.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 20 transportation professionals. Set performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and operational excellence. Ensure team members have the tools, training, and support needed to execute their responsibilities effectively.
Compliance & Policy Management:
Ensure full compliance with all applicable transportation regulations, safety standards, labor laws, and internal policies. Implement and monitor adherence to client transport policies, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee daily transportation operations across assigned locations including route planning, vehicle allocation, driver management, and passenger satisfaction. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement solutions to optimize service delivery and cost management.
Reporting & Analytics:
Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reports on key performance indicators including on-time performance, incident rates, cost per trip, vehicle utilization, and compliance metrics. Provide regular updates to the Account Director on operational performance and improvement initiatives.
Technology Integration:
Leverage transport management systems and technology platforms to enhance operational visibility, improve route efficiency, and streamline communication between drivers, passengers, and management teams.
Stakeholder Management:
Serve as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, addressing concerns, gathering feedback, and ensuring transportation services align with business needs and employee expectations.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 8-10 years of progressive experience in employee transportation management, with demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale transport operations in corporate or industrial settings.
Geographic Expertise: Proven experience managing transportation operations in remote and metro locations, specifically in Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, or similar Indian cities with complex traffic and infrastructure challenges.
Team Leadership: Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading teams of 15+ members, with strong people management, coaching, and development capabilities.
Vendor Management: Extensive experience managing multiple vendor relationships simultaneously, including contract negotiations, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of Indian transportation regulations, motor vehicle laws, labor compliance requirements, and corporate governance frameworks.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with transport management systems, GPS tracking platforms, routing software, and advanced Excel/data analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field
Professional certifications in Transport Management, Fleet Management, or Supply Chain
Experience in facilities management or integrated workplace services environment
Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and green transportation practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with data-driven decision-making approach
