Tech Lead Manager - Quality Engineering

We’re hiring a hands-on engineering leader to build and own Internal Developer Platforms from scratch. This role combines strong backend expertise with platform thinking—designing scalable testing frameworks, driving automation, and embedding quality into every stage of development.

You’ll lead a small team while staying deeply involved in building systems across CI/CD, performance, and reliability. If you’ve worked in high-scale environments and enjoy creating robust engineering foundations, this is a high-ownership, high-impact opportunity.

Must Haves

• 6–9 years of overall engineering experience with at least 1 year in a lead/manager role.
• Strong background in software development (Go, Python, or similar) with experience in building frameworks/libraries.
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks (unit, integration, regression, performance, load).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar) and test orchestration. 
• Familiarity with observability stacks for performance monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
• Knowledge of mocking frameworks, service virtualization, and test environment automation.
• Solid understanding of system performance, scalability testing, and distributed systems.
• Prior experience leading small teams; ability to create and execute on roadmap for technical products.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

On the Job Responsibilities

• Charter Ownership: Define and own the QE strategy for platform engineering – spanning testing infra, automation, regression, chaos and performance.
• Framework Development: Architect and develop reusable testing frameworks (unit, regression, integration, performance, and load testing).
• Internal Tools: Build and scale mock services, test data management solutions, and environment simulators for faster, reliable testing.
• CI/CD Integration: Partner with DevOps to integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality.
• Automation Leadership: Drive automation-first culture; design frameworks, establish best practices, and mentor engineers to contribute effectively.
• Performance & Reliability: Develop tools for performance benchmarking, stress testing, and system reliability validation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering leads, product managers, and architects to ensure testability and quality are built into designs from the start.
• People Leadership: Lead, coach, and grow a team of framework software engineers, while remaining hands-on with design and critical implementations.
• Innovation: Stay current with industry trends (shift-left testing, cloud-native testing tools, service virtualization) and bring in relevant innovations.
