Let me tell you about the role



A Data Manager bridges the gap between data engineering and analysis, ensuring that data structures areoptimizedfor both storage and analysis,maintainingrobust, scalable, and efficient data models that serve as the foundation for all data-related activities within an organization. They work closely with data engineers to develop andmaintaindatabases or data warehouses, ensuring data integrity and consistency. The role involves collaborating with data analysts and data scientists to understand their requirements and translate them into efficient data models. Additionally, a data manager conducts data quality assessments,complies withdata governance policies, andoptimizesdata workflows to improve overall data accessibility and usability.



What you will deliver



As part of a cross-disciplinary team, working closely with business partners, other data managers, product managers, data engineers, dataanalystsand software engineers. You will set data standards, co-design data schemas, ensure quality at the source and write code to (semi-)automate manual data processes wherever possible.



You'llutiliseyour deep data domain knowledge and business context around data sources and data products.



Work with business partners to coordinate data remediation plans to ensure data sets and data products are fit for purpose at business entity level.



Able to cleanse, transform, reconcile, and standardize data by creating new ormodifyingexisting scripts / automation, to ensure high quality data is available to meet business requirements.



Identifynew and impactful opportunities to automate processes and collaborate with data engineers to build new tools and approaches to automate data ingestion, data integration,manipulationand quality control, where needed.



Enforce to and advocate for data management best practices



Have the opportunity topresent results to peers and senior management, sharing your findings and influencing decision making.



Accountable for the scope, definition, test results-validation, and signoff of data quality testing.



Build space to mentor and coach others, enabling them to grow.



What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)




Essential



Experience leading, growing and developing a data engineering team of around 7-30 people 



Hands-on experience in data management, data governance and process automation in complex, global environments 



Hands-on knowledge of data management and governance across all data lifecycle stages crucial 



Deep understanding of data models, datastandardsand processes essential 



Deep data domain knowledge and experience in the relevant business area. 



Working knowledge of data security and privacy compliance policies, like GDPR, NIST and CCPA 



Customer-centric and pragmatic mindset. Focus on value delivery and swift execution, whilemaintainingattention to detail. 



Business acumen in the energy business 



Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 



Stakeholder management and ability to lead through influence 



A continuous learning and improvement attitude. 



Strong data transformation and manipulation skills 



Master’sdegree in computer science or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience 



Strong hands-on SQL skills 



Desired



Experience with big data technologies (e.g.Hadoop, Hive, and Spark) is a plus 



No prior experience in the energy industryrequired
