Within this organisation, the Solution Specialist plays a key role by applying business and accounting knowledge to design solutions across processes in the SAP Finance domain, including integration scope. This position is assigned to a distributed team covering Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO), Profit Center Accounting (PCA), Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM), Time Writing (TW), Resource Related Billing (RRB), Joint Venture Accounting (JVA), Production Sharing Accounting (PSA), and Production & Revenue Accounting (PRA). The role also requires close collaboration with other workstreams within the ES organisation, such as General Ledger (GL), Asset Accounting (AA), Project System (PS), Cash & Banking (C&B), Central Finance (CFIN), BlackLine, and Reporting (Group, Statutory, and Management Information), to ensure seamless integration across end-to-end processes. In this position, you will help the organisation develop and deploy end-to-end solutions that not only meet current business needs within the existing ECC landscape but also anticipate and support future requirements. You will further contribute to the organisation's transformation by shaping new solution designs using S/4 HANA as part of bp's ERP Transformation Project.
About RoleSolution Specialist collaborates with the Solution Manager and sera domain expert expert in designing and delivering solutions across bp's global SAP landscape, governing the Global Finance Template (GFT), with the ability to guide and coach Solution Analysts within the team. As part of the Enabling Solutions organisation, the Solution Specialist brings deep process and technical expertise across Record to Report (R2R) including upstream SAP processes, with integration with Timewriting (TW), InterCOmpany (ICO), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Acquire to Retire (A2R), Procure to Pay (P2), Source to Pay (S2P), and Order to Cash (O2C). Operating within an Agile, multi-functional team, you will partner closely with collaborators to deliver high-quality, scalable, and sustainable solutions for the organisation. Using strong business and accounting knowledge, the Solution Specialist develops a thorough understanding of business needs and value drivers. Bringing to bear techcompetenceacumen and subject-matter expertise, you will propose solution options that best support bp's operational and strategic objectives. Enabling Solutions is a global organisation spanning multiple locations and serving diverse collaborators around the world. This role provides global exposure and involves close collaboration with:

4. Key Accountabilities – about you - Break down product backlog items into clear functional requirements and provide guidance on user story implementation.
- Embrace and apply Agile principles and ways of working.
- Engage with collaborators to understand, analyse, and assess business requirements.
- Participate actively in product synchronisation boards.
- Lead end-to-end solution design across relevant functional areas, ensuring alignment with business needs, conceptual models, and global process standards.
- Investigate, evaluate, prototype, and recommend solution options, presenting proposals to business collaborators and relevant governance forums.
- Create, maintain, and govern high-quality solution design documentation, ensuring alignment to global process governance, corporate controls, regulatory requirements, and FB&T design standards.
- Break down complex business processes into clear, simplified requirements and prepare (or contribute to) detailed functional specifications for solution design.
- Review technical designs to ensure they align with conceptual and process designs and stay in sync with integration, data, and architectural standards.
- Provide domain expertise to develop and maintain process maps, standard operating procedures, training materials, and solution documentation within the document management system.
- Support template governance by managing design changes through appropriate authorities and proposing global standard solutions where applicable.
- Define unit testing requirements, develop testing scenarios, and review and sign off on execution outcomes to ensure solution robustness.
- Identify improvement opportunities, contribute enhancements to the product backlog, and support process review sessions to drive standardisation and optimisation.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and experimentation to drive value creation and scalable solutions across bp.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with I&E, GPO, technical teams, business customers, and A&C and Future Finance functions.
- Share standard methodologies to ensure all business, statutory, and fiscal requirements are met.
5. Key Challenges - The diverse landscape of bp's SAP instances requires a diligent focal person for this role.
- Ability to simplify and rationalise legacy, diverse, and heavily customised designs into a streamlined, standardised, and future-ready solution.
- Cross-region coverage requires speedy and timely support to the business during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across bp worldwide.
- Collaborator management is crucial, as bp is undergoing an ERP transformation journey using S/4 HANA, in which Enabling Solutions (ES) plays an important gate-keeping role to ensure new releases do not impact existing processes throughout the programme, while at the same time guiding to Quantum in shaping the future of bp's S/4HANA global design.
7. Qualification & Experience and Competencies - A degree or equivalent experience or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
- A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g., CIMA, CPA, ACA, ACCA) is preferred.
- SAP certification in ECC and/or S/4HANA.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex processes clearly and influence a wide range of collaborators.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict and navigate ambitious situations.
- A strong passion for problem-solving, with the ability to analyse issues, propose solutions, and support others in resolving complex problems.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills within global, virtual, and multi-functional environments.

- Ability to build strong working relationships with business collaborators, technical teams, and delivery teams.
Essential Product Experience & Expertise - Deep knowledge and significant experience with SAP FICO functionality and configuration, and a solid understanding of user transactional processes in an SAP environment.
- Domain expert in Joint Venture Accounting (JVA), Production Sharing Accounting (PSA), and Production & Revenue Accounting (PRA or equivalent experience) processes and SAP functionality.
- Hands-on experience in Profit Center Accounting (PCA) and Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM) is desirable.
- Significant experience in system design and deployment within the Joint Venture Accounting area.
Desirable Criteria - 7+ years of relevant work experience in systems and process design.
- Experience working in a multinational organisation, preferably in the Oil & Gas or Mining sector.
- Experience with Agile ways of working.
- Deep knowledge of Group reporting and financial consolidation in a multinational organisation.
- 3+ years of experience in system design or SAP support, ideally ECC and/or S/4HANA.
