Software Architect

Job Description

This is for an experienced systems engineer (SE) position in the electrical sub systems of airplane systems engineering organization in the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) BU. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for analysis and authoring of reports complimenting Verification of Electrical Sub System LRUs System development of aircraft electrical sub-systems, Validation & Verification and traceability of requirements per development Assurance (ARP4754A). 

Specific responsibilities include:

• System functional decomposition, System Requirements authoring, Requirements decomposition, Requirements Validation, Requirements Verification, Creating Requirement validation and verification matrix 
• Authoring and reviewing safety analyses – FHA, FMEA, FTA etc
• Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
• Coordinates with other engineering functions and resolves cross-functional technical issues
• Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
• Present requirement, design and/or development revision and changes to formal change boards.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Working experience in any of the areas from the following, having working experience in multiple areas is an added advantage:

Electrical sub-systems: Electrical Power Systems- Main AC, DC Standby, Backup Electrical Power, Electrical Load Management, electrical power generation, proximity sensing systems, exterior lighting, systems card files, window heat system, distribution, power conversion topologies and auto transformers

• Working experience of analyzing and authoring of reports complimenting Verification of Electrical Sub System LRUs.
• Working experience on ARP 4754 & knowledge on ARP-4761, DO178, DO -160 & DO-254 Standards.
• Systems testing knowledge and Hands on experience in using test equipment is added advantage.
• Hands on Experience on IBM Rational DOORS / dxl scripting / automation for productivity in requirements Management is required
• Strong Written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff
• Experience in working with suppliers or other external stakeholders is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of FAA certification and airworthiness requirements is highly desired.

Desired Skills/Preferred Qualifications:

• Core electrical knowledge
• Knowledge of Microsoft-tools
• IBM DOORS
• INCOSE certification on Systems Engineering is an added advantage.

Typical Education & Experience:

• Education/experience typically acquired through a bachelor’s in engineering (Electrical/Electronics) and typically 9 to 12 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. master’s in engineering + 4 years' related work experience).
