Your impact
We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert – Data Center Architect to lead and deliver end-to-end data center design and master planning for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and mission-critical facilities. The role demands deep expertise in concept-to-completion architectural design, master planning of large-scale campuses, client advisory, and multidisciplinary coordination within a consultancy design environment. The individual will act as a technical authority and design thought leader, supporting high-value projects across India and global markets while being based in Navi Mumbai.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual, schematic, and detailed architectural design for greenfield and brownfield data center projects, including hyperscale and colocation facilities.
- Develop master plans for large-scale, multi-building data center campuses with a focus on scalability, expansion, and long-term growth.
- Define space planning, block layouts, phasing strategies, and future capacity provisions aligned with business and operational requirements.
- Integrate architectural design seamlessly with IT load planning, MEP systems, and operational workflows to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Ensure architectural designs meet Tier III / Tier IV requirements where applicable.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for data center architecture, providing technical leadership across all projects.
- Establish and maintain architectural design standards, guidelines, and best practices for data center developments.
- Provide technical oversight, peer reviews, and design validation for complex and high-value projects.
- Support proposal development, feasibility studies, bid documentation, and high-level technical presentations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, developers, investors, and operators throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead client workshops, design charrettes, and technical discussions to align design outcomes with client objectives.
- Translate client business, operational, and growth requirements into efficient and optimized architectural solutions.
- Interface with international clients, operators, OEMs, and certification agencies as required.
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams including MEP, structural, fire & life safety, sustainability, and IT consultants to ensure integrated design delivery.
- Review shop drawings, technical submittals, and compliance documentation to maintain design intent and quality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local codes and regulations (NBC, Development Control Regulations, Fire NOCs).
- Ensure alignment with international data center standards such as Uptime Institute, TIA‑942, ASHRAE, and NFPA.
- Incorporate sustainability, energy efficiency, and climate-resilient design principles into all architectural solutions.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) – Mandatory
- Professional certifications in Data Center Design are an added advantage.
- 20+ years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 5–6 years exclusively in data center or mission-critical facility design.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale data center projects.
- Experience working with international clients and global standards.
- Strong background in consultancy-based design organizations.
