Purpose of the role



To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 




Accountabilities



  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Embark on a transformative journey as a Senior Engineer – AVP, where you'll spearhead the delivery of the technology stack, using strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand the business requirements and deliver quality solutions coming up with the process design of the Foundational / Consolidated and Business data Products. You will be working on complex technical problems that will involve detailed analytical skills and analysis. This will be done in conjunction with fellow engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders.




To be successful as a Senior Engineer – AVP, you should have experience with:




• Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with Barclays engineering standards and best practices & collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Drive automation and process optimization using low-code/no-code BPM platforms or equivalent technologies & participate in solution architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
• IBM Watson Governance (watsonx.governance) or similar AI governance frameworks; familiarity with risk management workflows is a strong plus.
• Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code BPM tools (e.g., Appian, Pega, or equivalent) & strong foundation in SQL and relational database design; ability to optimize queries and manage data integrity.
• Proficiency in software engineering principles, including CI/CD, testing, and secure coding practices.
Preferred Skills & exposure to Barclays software delivery lifecycle, including Agile methodologies and internal governance processes.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) & familiarity with API development and integration patterns.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
 



Some other highly valued skills may include:



• Experience in AI/ML model governance or compliance frameworks.
• Understanding of risk and regulatory requirements in financial services.

The location of the role is Pune, IN.
