Job Description The Record-to-Report (R2R) Subject Matter Expert serves as the technical and process authority for designated R2R focus areas as defined and assigned by the Global Controllership team.
Operating within the Shared Service Center (SSC), the SME drives consistent, compliant, and high-quality execution across the global R2R footprint, owns the integrity of accounting policy application within their domain, and acts as the bridge between the SSC operations team, regional controllers, and Global Controllership.
This role is hands-on with technical accounting, process governance, and continuous improvement, while also providing thought leadership, training, and escalation support across multiple entities and geographies Designated Focus Areas The SME will be assigned ownership of one or more specialized R2R domains as defined by Global Controllership.
Typical focus areas include (assignment will be confirmed at hire and may evolve): Fixed assets and capital projects accounting; lease accounting under ASC 842; Loans and debt components, intercompany accounting, settlement, and elimination; balance sheet reconciliation governance; chart of accounts and master data integrity; statutory-to-management GAAP adjustments; SOX controls within R2R; or close process orchestration.
Key Responsibilities Domain Ownership & Technical Authority Serve as the global SME for assigned R2R area(s), ensuring consistent application of corporate accounting policies, US GAAP/IFRS, and local statutory requirements.
Interpret guidance from Global Controllership and translate it into operational procedures within the SSC.
Act as the first point of escalation for technical and process questions within the domain.
Policy & Process Governance.
Maintain global standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation for assigned areas.
Drive standardization and harmonization across entities and regions, identifying and closing gaps between local practice and corporate policy.
Partner with Global Controllership to roll out new or updated accounting policies, ensuring SSC readiness and execution.
Close Execution & Quality Assurance.
Lead or oversee complex period-end close activities within the assigned domain, including significant journal entries, reconciliations, technical calculations, and analytical reviews.
Perform quality reviews of work produced by R2R accountants in the assigned area; ensure deliverables meet timeliness, accuracy, and documentation standards.
Investigate and resolve material variances, aged items, and reconciliation issues; drive root-cause analysis rather than symptomatic fixes.
Controls, Audit & Compliance.
Own the design and operation of key SOX and internal controls within the assigned R2R domain.
Coordinate audit responses (internal, external, statutory) for the area, including PBC delivery, walkthroughs, and remediation of findings.
Ensure evidence retention, segregation of duties, and reconciliation governance standards are met across all entities.
Process Improvement, Automation & Transformation.
Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the assigned R2R area: standardization, simplification, automation (workflow tools), and ERP/close-tool optimization.
Support transitions and migrations of activities into the SSC, including knowledge transfer, documentation, and stabilization.
Partner with technology teams on enhancements to ERP (NetSuite) and reconciliation tools (BlackLine).

CPA / CA / ACCA preferred Solid Knowledge of USA GAAP or IFRS Good understanding of accounting for fixed assets, leases, derivatives, deferred loan issuance costs and leases.
Excellent spoken and written English.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience operating in multi-region environments.
Well-organized and deadline-driven.
Able to work with high number of legal entities at the same time.
Proficiency in Excel.
Previous experience working on Netsuite or similiar accounting platform is a plus.
