Partner with QA, Product, Engineering, and customer-facing teams to align on non-functional requirements, remove blockers, and drive continuous improvement. Performance engineering expertise is valued to help guide technical direction, but the primary focus of this role is people leadership and operational excellence.

Direct people management for the Performance Engineering team: hiring and onboarding, goal setting, ongoing coaching, performance management, compensation/performance reviews input, and career development.
Own staffing and capacity planning for the team: maintain an up-to-date skills matrix, identify hiring needs, and ensure sustainable delivery (team health, engagement, and retention).
Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, QA, Implementation, and Professional Services to understand priorities and non-functional requirements, and translate them into an actionable team backlog.
Own Jira and team administration: maintain boards/workflows, ensure ticket quality, drive backlog hygiene, and provide clear status reporting to stakeholders.
Establish and improve team processes (intake, estimation, definition of done, documentation standards) to increase predictability and throughput.
Serve as Scrum Master / agile lead for the team (or partner closely with one), facilitating ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives) and removing delivery blockers.
Coordinate cross-functional dependencies and communicate risks, tradeoffs, and timelines; ensure alignment across teams when priorities change.
Review performance testing approach and results with the team; help interpret findings, highlight bottlenecks, and drive actionable recommendations with Engineering.
Ensure the team has the right environments, access, and tooling; coordinate setup/teardown activities and escalate constraints as needed.
Ensure defects and risks are documented and tracked in Jira; promote proactive communication and timely follow-up with developers and stakeholders.
Track delivery against the sprint/release plan and adjust priorities as needed to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education:
B. Tech / B.E. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study or Business with an MIS background. MS degree preferred.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in software engineering, QA, performance engineering, or a related discipline, including 3+ years as a direct people manager (hiring, coaching, and performance management).
Proven people management skills, including coaching, performance conversations, hiring/onboarding support, and creating development plans.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical depth and delivery priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong agile delivery and Jira administration experience (boards/workflows, backlog hygiene, reporting, and facilitation of key ceremonies).
Recommended knowledge in Financial Services.
Performance engineering experience is a plus (e.g., familiarity with tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, NeoLoad, or similar, and APM/observability tooling such as Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, etc.).
Comfortable partnering with engineers on technical topics; ability to understand code-level and database-level discussions (e.g., .NET/Java, SQL, scripting) is preferred.
Experience with industry-standard profiling tools is a plus.
DevOps/CI-CD familiarity is beneficial (e.g., Jenkins/TeamCity or similar, Git, and exposure to cloud platforms).
