WSP is seeking an experienced GIS Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team supporting the US Earth & Environment (E&E) Business Line. The GIS consultant will provide advanced expertise in power generation and distribution, geospatial analyses, environmental data management, and cartographic support for projects related to site investigation and remediation, environmental impact assessments, environmental planning and permitting, and other similar areas. 


The team you will join offers an exciting diversity of projects and clients. You will lead delivery, mentor junior staff, and ensure technical excellence across all phases of the project. The role will be based in either Bengaluru or Noida.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead end‑to‑end GIS workflows for environmental projects, from data acquisition, digitizing, processing, analyses, QA/QC and final cartographic delivery, with minimal supervision


  • Apply advanced expertise in ArcGIS Pro, including geoprocessing model design, spatial analysis, and production automation to improve efficiency, consistency, and repeatability.


  • Design, manage, and maintain scalable project geodatabases, including schema development, metadata standards, and long-term data stewardship.


  • Produce defensible GIS analyses and presentation-quality cartographic products (maps, drawings, figures, charts, posters, etc.) for diverse audience including clients, regulators, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.


  • Conduct constraint, sensitivity, and impact analyses for routing and siting studies, translating complex environmental data into decision ready outputs.


  • Proactively advise project teams on map design, scale, symbology, and data limitations to prevent misinterpretation or misuse of GIS outputs.


  • Implement and support mobile GIS and field data collection workflows, including data validation, post-processing, and enterprise integration.


  • Configure and maintain ESRI web mapping environments (e.g., ArcGIS Online and/or enterprise portal) to support project teams, including publishing layers, organizing web maps, and controlling permissions/roles.


  • Maintain high standards of data quality management, including QA/QC procedures, error detection, and documentation of assumptions and limitations.


  • Manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting consulting budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.



Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.


  • 10+ years of experience in delivering GIS products for environmental consulting projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in Power & Energy sector with routing/siting and engineering support for electric transmission systems. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ESRI technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Server.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting mobile data collection solutions using ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123, including supporting field tools, user access management and organizational GIS portals.
  • Strong understanding of geodatabase design and management, including domains, subtypes, and feature class operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail, with an emphasis on professional map and visualization standards.
  • Ability to independently scope GIS tasks, estimate effort, and communicate constraints and trade offs to project managers.
  • Commitment to ethical data use, safety standards, and professional conduct, aligned with WSP policies.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Civil 3D.
  • Experience supporting international projects, especially in the U.S. or North American market. 
  • Professional qualifications such as Chartered Geographer, or GISP.
