About the role




The Performance & Portfolio Lead is a critical role in enabling each D&T Pillar to operate as a high‑performing, strategically aligned and well‑governed function within Haleon’s Digital & Technology (D&T) organisation.




Working in close partnership with a D&T Leadership Team (LT) member and their leadership team, the role ensures that the annual and multi‑year delivery and operational portfolio is clearly defined, actively managed and consistently governed.




The role acts as the right hand to the D&T LT member, orchestrating strategic planning, portfolio performance, governance forums, risk oversight and leadership communications. It brings clarity in moments of ambiguity, ensures alignment of priorities and messages across teams, and enables disciplined execution through strong operational grip and insight.




This is a high‑visibility role, requiring strong presence, analytical capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across D&T and the wider business.




Role purpose




To ensure the Pillar’s strategy is translated into coherent plans, consistently managed portfolios and measurable outcomes, supported by strong governance, performance insight, financial transparency and effective leadership cadence – the role also ensure consistent ways of working across all D&T Pillars.




Key accountabilities




The Performance & Portfolio Lead is accountable for:



·Defining and managing the Pillar’s annual and multi‑year delivery and operational portfolio, in close partnership with the D&T LT member



·Ensuring portfolio management is applied consistently, aligned to Strategic Portfolio Management Office / CoE standards



·Supporting Integrated Growth Plan (long‑range planning) and Annual Business Plan development



·Providing clear, consistent performance and financial insight through high‑quality reporting



·Helping identify, understand and manage Pillar‑level operational and compliance risks



·Facilitating key leadership governance forums, including Monthly Operational Reviews and Quarterly Business Reviews




Key responsibilities




1. Strategic Portfolio Definition & Management



·Work closely with a D&T LT member and their leadership team to define, manage and evolve the Pillar’s delivery and operational portfolio.



·Maintain a single, coherent view of all programmes, workstreams and initiatives within scope.



·Ensure priorities, dependencies and delivery plans remain aligned to strategic objectives.




2. Portfolio Consistency & Governance Discipline



·Ensure portfolio management is carried out in a consistent way, aligned to the Strategic Portfolio Management Office / CoE direction.



·Apply common approaches to prioritisation, performance tracking, change control and escalation.



·Coordinate and operate governance forums, ensuring decisions are taken, actions tracked and outcomes delivered.




3. Planning Cycles & Strategic Alignment



·Lead the Pillar’s annual and quarterly planning cycles, including objectives, OKRs, roadmaps and inputs to budget planning.



·Support Integrated Growth Plan (long‑range planning) and Annual Business Plan build‑out, ensuring delivery and operational portfolios align to strategic intent.



·Translate strategy into clear plans, milestones and measurable outcomes.




4. Performance, Risk & Insight



·Implement robust portfolio and performance reporting, enabling effective tracking of progress, risks, issues and outcomes.



·Help identify and manage operational and compliance risks at Pillar level, ensuring visibility, mitigation planning and escalation where required.



·Bring clarity to complex situations by synthesising data, insights and trade‑offs for leadership.




5. Financial Reporting & Partnership



·Work closely with Finance Operational Analysts and central Finance to ensure clear, consistent and trusted financial reporting across the portfolio.



·Support tracking of spend, forecasts and variances, translating financial data into meaningful insights for non‑finance leaders.



·Ensure financial performance discussions are fact‑based and aligned to delivery and operational realities.




6. Leadership Cadence & Governance Forums



·Facilitate Monthly Operational Reviews (MORs) with the D&T LT member, ensuring effective discussion of performance, risks and actions.



·Support and facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with the Pillar and the CDTO, ensuring high‑quality preparation, clear narratives and outcomes‑focused discussion.



·Design and maintain effective leadership rhythms that keep the Pillar aligned, informed and operating at pace.




7. Cross‑Functional Coordination & Enablement



·Act as the central coordination point between the Pillar and key partners across D&T, Finance, Operations, Strategy, Risk and Compliance.



·Support workforce planning, vendor coordination and resource alignment where required.



·Ensure operational processes are aligned and implemented in line with Strategic Portfolio Management Office / CoE guidance.




8. Executive Communications & Ad‑hoc Support



·Prepare high‑quality executive communications, updates and briefing materials on behalf of the Pillar.



·Handle ad‑hoc strategic and operational requests for the D&T LT member with speed, judgement and clarity.



·Reduce operational friction, enabling leadership to focus on strategic priorities.





Qualifications & Skills




Essential



·Demonstrated experience in portfolio management, strategic planning, performance management or business operations within complex or matrixed organizations.



·Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to bring clarity to ambiguity.



·Experience supporting leadership governance forums and executive‑level reporting.



·Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional priorities and maintain alignment across teams.




Preferred



·Strong influencing skills and confidence partnering with senior leaders.



·Ability to operate with discretion, presence and sound judgement in executive contexts.



·Skilled at navigating complexity and driving action through structured thinking.



·Collaborative mindset with a track record of building trust and accountability.
