About role

Slb has an opening in Coimbatore / Pune, India and Bogota, Columbia for a Technical Lead who will work on the Development / configuration for all modules / capabilities, changes and bug fixes related to Planisware and Microsoft .Net suite of applications in the Product and Service Delivery Function under Enterprise Solutions.


The end users supported are the global community in Slb using these systems. Both L1 support and L2 support is provided in-house while L3 Development and Support is outsourced to vendors.


This role will work closely with the Scrum team on defining / change requirements and align with the development team (L3, vendors) for technical design and effort validation. Further, he/she will define periodic release plans and release schedules in coordination with the domain teams and the L3 vendor while being supervised by the Chief Scrum Master. He / she would manage the execution of release activities and co-ordinate with the L3 development teams to ensure releases are delivered on time and within budget.


Key responsibilitiesTechnical Responsibilities
  • Solution Design & Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of standard as well as customized Planisware solution to address Project Management needs/Stakeholders
  • Strategic Alignment: Work with product management and IT leadership to align Planisware functionality with business strategies and project goals.
  • Obtain business requirements and use cases / user stories from Product and Service Delivery, Supply, Distribution and Operation Planning Domains for all enhancements. Validate all such requirements and articulate to the L3 teams
  • Customization Framework: Define best practices and frameworks for customizing Planisware to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Integration Strategy: Develop and implement integration strategies to connect Planisware with other enterprise systems. Optimizing the API calls to minimize the performance issues & Cost.
  • Governance & Best Practices: Establish governance around Planisware usage, ensuring the platform is optimized for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, ensuring efficient use of resources, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables Serve as a SPOC to the L3 inhouse / vendor development team and coordinate all development and testing activities. Help development team to understand the error causes on production environment
  • Review and get technical feasibility validation of the technical design provided by L3 for the change requests.
  • Ensure adoption of Scrum in the development process. Also ensure DevOps is adopted within the team efficiently
  • Work on roll-back scenarios and identify cases where roll-backs are necessary
Release Management
  • Assist the Technical Team in the design and development of the release management process
  • Expertise in various PLW modules, including Oscar and PMGo modules.
  • Proven experience in designing and deploying Planisware for large-scale organizations, particularly in product or project management. Familiarity with enterprise architecture and software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Ensure technical documentation is kept up to date by the development team
  • Proactively identify and implement procedures to streamline the build process which may drive the development and maintenance of an automated build process
  • Periodically reports performance metric dashboard for releases handled. Communicate release details and schedules to the Domains as required

Essential qualifications


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years of overall support/development experience, of which 5 + years on Planisware.
  • Planisware Certification - Specialist OR Expert
  • 4+ years in Change and Release Management
  • 3 to 4 years of experience building on Web apps / Desktop Apps using technologies like React, Angular, Java ASP.NET, etc.
  • Good understanding of consuming APIs through Single Page Application (SPA).
  • Good exposure to database technologies like Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.

Key competencies


  • In-depth knowledge of the change management process working on the change and release module
  • Should have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of ITIL processes including Application Change and Release Management
  • Experience working on multiple releases/projects as a subject matter expert and as a technical leader. Should have worked on complex projects that require expertise across multiple disciples and environments
  • Very good understanding around building Planisware based solution and Integration / data migration processes
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum/Kanban environment
  • Good knowledge of Azure IaaS / PaaS
  • Very good experience of version management.
  • Experience of providing overall process improvements adopting to the release process
  • Advanced knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Preferred experience in Oil & Gas industry (though not mandatory)

  • Open to travel abroad and in India
  • Comfortable working occasional extended hours demanded by emergency release
  • Exposure to Performance Tuning (Tuning concepts - indexes, segments, partitions, query tuning) of database systems would be an added advantage
