We are hiring Electrical Engineers – Switchyard / Substation (Physical Design) across multiple levels to support Power Transmission & Distribution, EHV Substations, Switchyards, and Power Plant projects.

These roles are based in Chennai, with opportunities aligned to experience, technical capability, and project requirements.

Roles will be offered at Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Lead Engineer levels depending on experience and skills. Compensation and grades will be aligned accordingly. Opportunities may be offered as permanent or fixed‑term positions.

What you’ll do

Depending on your experience and role level, you will be responsible for Switchyard / Substation Primary Design and Engineering activities for HV/EHV power transmission and distribution projects.

Switchyard / Substation Engineering (Primary Design)

• Perform primary design engineering for AIS and GIS substations and switchyards up to 400/765 kV.

  
  

• Prepare and review key engineering deliverables including:

  
  

  • Switchyard layout and equipment arrangement drawings

    
    

  • Busbar layouts, gantry and structure layouts

    
    

  • Sectional and elevation drawings

    
    

  • Electrical clearances and phase spacing studies

    
    

  • Cable routing layouts

    
    

  • Earthing and grounding layouts

    
    

  • Lightning protection layouts

    
    

  • Foundation inputs and interface details

    
    

  • Bulk MTOs and BOQs

    
    

• Define equipment placement and interfaces for major substation equipment such as circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, VTs, transformers, reactors, gantries, and support structures.

  
  

• Coordinate with Protection & Control (secondary) engineering teams, civil/structural teams, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design.

  
  

• Ensure designs comply with international standards and codes such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, NEC, and client / utility specifications.

  
  

Engineering Studies, Vendor & Execution Support

• Perform and review electrical design inputs related to:

  
  

  • Grounding and earthing calculations

    
    

  • Lightning protection design

    
    

  • Equipment sizing inputs and layout optimization

    
    

• Prepare material requisitions, tender specifications, and technical bid evaluations for switchyard equipment.

  
  

• Review and comment on vendor drawings and datasheets.

  
  

• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning, including troubleshooting and site coordination where required.

  
  

Leadership & Coordination (Senior / Lead levels)

• Lead and guide a team of engineers and designers for switchyard design activities.

  
  

• Plan, organize, and monitor engineering deliverables to meet project schedules, quality, and cost objectives.

  
  

• Coordinate with clients, utilities, owners’ engineers, vendors, and internal discipline teams.

  
  

• Support technical reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  
  

• Demonstrate strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

  
  

Qualifications – External

About YouTo be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Power Systems/ (M.E. / M.Tech – Power Systems is desirable)- 8–20 years of experience in Switchyard / Substation Physical Design- Good Knowledge in International standards like IEC/IEEE/ANSI/NEC.Strong experience in:- Power Transmission & Distribution projects- AIS / GIS substations and EHV switchyards- Power plants and grid substation projects- Thorough knowledge of switchyard equipment layout, grounding, lightning protection, and physical design- Ability to work independently and, at senior levels, lead teams in a high‑pressure EPC project environmentHiring Drive NoteThis is an invite‑only hiring drive scheduled for Saturday, 9 May 2026.Candidates must be pre‑screened and formally invited by the Talent Acquisition team to attend interviews at the Chennai office.
