About the role




The Head of Program Delivery (Waterfall) is a senior leadership role within Haleon’s Digital & Technology organisation, sitting in the Performance, Transformation & Delivery function.



The role has enterprise‑wide accountability for the delivery of D&T programmes using waterfall and stage‑gate methodologies, ensuring programmes are governed effectively, delivered predictably, and achieve their intended business outcomes.



Working in close partnership with the Head of D&T Delivery Excellence, Head of Agile CoE, D&T Leadership, Finance and business stakeholders, the role ensures that complex, high‑value programmes requiring structured, sequential delivery are executed with discipline, transparency and control.




Role purpose




To ensure that D&T programmes delivered using waterfall and hybrid delivery models are executed with clarity, rigor and outcome focus, providing confidence to senior leadership that strategic commitments will be delivered to plan.




Key accountabilities




The Head of Program Delivery is accountable for:



·Helping to maintain standard waterfall and stage‑gate delivery frameworks and standards



·Ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery of waterfall programmes across D&T



·Leading and developing a team of professional Project Managers



·Ensuring programmes deliver defined business outcomes, benefits and value





Key responsibilities




1. Enterprise Waterfall Delivery Frameworks & Standards



·Help define, own and maintain Haleon’s standard waterfall and stage‑gate delivery frameworks, artefacts, controls and governance models.



·Ensure clear alignment between waterfall delivery approaches and broader D&T delivery governance, including Agile and hybrid models.



·Continuously evolve delivery standards to reflect best practice, regulatory needs and organisational maturity.




2. Consistent Programme Delivery Execution



·Ensure consistent and disciplined delivery of waterfall programmes across D&T Pillars, Platforms and Services.



·Establish clear expectations for planning quality, milestones, dependencies, risk management and reporting.



·Ensure programmes are delivered in line with agreed scope, schedule, cost and quality commitments.




3. Business Outcomes & Benefits Realisation



·Ensure all programmes have clearly defined business outcomes, success measures and benefits plans.



·Provide transparent visibility of progress, risks, trade‑offs and forecast outcomes to senior leadership.



·Actively challenge programme teams where delivery activity is not translating into tangible business outcomes.




4. Programme Governance, Assurance & Health



·Design and operate robust programme governance structures appropriate for complex, regulated or business‑critical initiatives.



·Conduct programme health checks and diagnostics, in partnership with Delivery Excellence, to identify delivery risks early.



·Lead recovery and course‑correction activity for programmes at risk.




5. Leadership of Program Delivery Capability



·Lead, manage and develop a team of Project Managers delivering D&T programmes using waterfall methodologies.



·Set capability standards, coaching models and performance expectations for the Project Management community.



·Build a strong culture of accountability, planning discipline and delivery professionalism.




6. Financial, Risk & Dependency Management



·Ensure robust management of programme budgets, forecasts, risks, issues and inter‑programme dependencies.



·Partner closely with Finance Operations to maintain financial control and predictability.



·Surface material risks and decision points early to enable timely leadership intervention.




7. Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Confidence



·Act as a trusted delivery partner to senior D&T and business stakeholders.



·Provide clear, factual and forward‑looking communication on programme status, risks and outcomes.



·Enable effective decision‑making through transparent and credible delivery insight.




Qualifications & Skills




Essential



·Extensive experience leading large‑scale D&T programmes using waterfall or stage‑gate methodologies



·Proven accountability for delivery frameworks, governance and assurance



·Demonstrated leadership of teams of Project Managers and programme professionals



·Strong experience managing delivery risk, dependency modelling and recovery scenarios



·Excellent senior stakeholder engagement and communication skills



·Relevant delivery certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent)




Preferred



·Experience operating alongside Agile and hybrid delivery models at enterprise scale



·Background in regulated, complex or business‑critical environments



·Strong financial and commercial delivery awareness



·Experience working within Delivery Excellence or transformation functions
