As a Software Engineering Manager (Frontend chapter Leader) you will be responsible for driving technical direction and engineering excellence of our Frontend discipline within the dynamic Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. Operating in a matrix structure, you will set the standard for code quality by defining robust design patterns and championing Non Functional requirements to ensure our software remains sustainable and scalable. You will balance the technical leadership with people management, empowering your chapter members distributed across various Scrum teams to deliver high-performing, secure, reliable and robust solutions.

Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or any relevant field with 12 to 15 years of overall experience
Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience managing people and leading technical excellence across distributed teams working for enterprise products
You will report to the Delivery Manager for Skywise, Asia within the Airbus India organization.
Core roles & responsibilities:
Technical Strategy: Define and maintain the Frontend technical vision ensuring alignment with broader architectural roadmap.
Standards and best practices: Lead the global “Community of practice” for backed engineering. Collaborate with the chapter leaders across the globe to have standard guidelines to deliver robust, reliable, scalable, secure customer products. Enforce coding and testing standards, security best practices, code review guidelines and testing protocols to ensure craftsmanship and consistency across all squads.
Architecture: Actively participate in architectural reviews. Balance feature delivery with long term technical health, advocating for the strategic reduction of technical debt and modernization of legacy systems.
Devops Mindset: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines (eg. gitlab), Infrastructure as a code, Docker
Operational Excellence: Champion Grow the Business and Run the Business culture. Drive initiatives to improve high availability, observability (logging, tracing, metrics) and reliability of Frontend services.
Align engineering initiatives and objectives directly with the overall company strategic goals.
Ensure high standards are met, resulting in high-quality software deliverables that meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
Develop Competency: Direct the necessary development team training to ensure the team possesses the required skills for future projects.
Growth and mentorship: Drive performance review and career development conversations. Mentor engineers from junior to senior levels, helping them navigate technical and organization challenges.
Resource allocation: Collaborate with the ART Trio (PM/SA/RTE) to ensure the right engineers are deployed to the right squads based on the skills, business needs, individual growth goals
Psychological Safety: Foster an inclusive environment where engineers feel free to take calculated risks, speak up, constructively challenge each other to develop quality product and innovate.
Qualifications:
MUST Have:
Engineering Background: 6+ years of hands on software engineering experience in frontend development C++,QT, QML, Vue.js, Javascript - Angular, react, react native with a deep understanding of fullstack distributed systems, software performance, databases concurrency and data structures.
UI Design: Strong grasp of front end microservices architecture, REST APIs, C++,QT, QML, Vue.js, Javascript - Angular, react, react native, AWS cloud-native principles. Ability to understand and review scalable systems design that can handle complex business logic.
Management experience: 3+ years of experience directly managing engineers, including performance management, hiring, handling difficult conversations, conflict management.
Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for stakeholders and to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams.
GOOD TO HAVE
Experience with a matrix / SAFe organization: Proven ability to influence without absolute authority and navigate complex matrix structures where your direct reports work in different squads. Experience Operating within the SAFe setup.
Aviation domain knowledge: Understanding of Airline operations, specifically Operations Control, Flight planning, crew management. Experience building mission critical software where high availability and safety are non-negotiable.
