D&T SAP Sr. Project Manager

The SAP Senior Project Manager is responsible for the hands-on planning, execution, and delivery of mid-to-large scale SAP projects. This role ensures that specific SAP modules or functional transformations are delivered within the "Triple Constraint" (Scope, Time, and Cost) while maintaining technical integrity.

Unlike a generalist PM, this role requires a deep "under-the-hood" understanding of SAP Activate and Agile methodologies to manage functional and technical workstreams. The Senior PM bridges the gap between technical consultants and business process owners, ensuring that the SAP solution—including modern digital integrations are technically sound and operationally ready.

The overall purpose of this role is to:
•    projects from Discovery to Hypercare, ensuring a seamless transition from "Build" to "Run."
•    Execute the SAP Activate framework daily, specifically managing Fit-to-Standard workshops and Sprint cycles.
•    Ensure all deliverables (Functional Specs, Technical Specs, Configuration) meet the organization’s "Clean Core" standards.
•    Manage the day-to-day productivity of internal teams and System Integrator (SI) consultants.

Customer:
•    Work closely with Functional Leads to ensure SAP configuration aligns with actual business processes.
•    Own the UAT (User Acceptance Testing) process, ensuring business signs off on a solution that is fit for purpose.
•    Implement project-level communication via WhatsApp/Teams integration for real-time status alerts and automated stakeholder updates.

People:
•    Lead a matrixed team of SAP Functional Analysts, ABAP Developers, and Data Migration specialists.
•    Identify and resolve technical or personality-driven bottlenecks within the project team immediately..

Operations:
•    Manage the critical dependencies between SAP modules (e.g., ensuring FICO and MM integration points are tested and validated).
•    Own the Data Migration plan for the project, overseeing the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of legacy data into SAP.
•    Coordinate with the Basis/Infrastructure team to ensure Development, Quality (QA), and Production environments are ready for project milestones.
•    Maintain a rigorous RAID log (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions) with a specific focus on SAP-technical risks like custom code failures or integration latency.

Financial:
•    Manage project-level spend, ensuring that consultant hours and software costs remain within the approved project budget.
•    Verify that technical milestones are genuinely achieved before approving vendor payments..

Education
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
•    SAP certifications (e.g., S/4HANA, Solution Architect, or COE leadership credentials) are highly desirable.
•    PMP or PRINCE2 (Expert-level PM methodology).

Professional Experience
•    PM Experience: 10–12 years of proven IT Project Management experience, with a focus on delivering multi-stream, complex programs.
•    SAP Experience: 8+ years specifically leading SAP Programs, including at least two full-lifecycle S/4HANA transformations (Greenfield or Brownfield).
•    Functional Breadth: Deep knowledge of the integration points between core modules: FICO, MM, SD, PP, and SuccessFactors.
•    Technical Depth: Hands-on experience with SAP Cloud ALM, SAP BTP, and managing technical debt/customization.
•    Demonstrated success in managing vendor relationships .
•    Evidence of exceptional people leadership skills: trusted by teams, visible and engaged in daily activities, able to establish authority and inspire collaboration across multiple cultures.

Technical Skills
•    Expertise across SAP S/4HANA and related modules (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HR, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, GRC, etc.).
•    Strong knowledge of SAP Basis, integration (PI/PO, CPI, API management), security, and cloud hosting (Azure, AWS, GCP).
•    Familiarity with SAP Analytics (BW/4HANA, SAC) and emerging technologies (BTP, AI/ML integration).
•    Strong understanding of data governance, master data management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
•    Skilled in ITIL processes, DevOps, agile methodologies, and SAP Solution Manager/Focused Build.
