Batch Scheduling Engineer

About the Role

We are hiring a Batch Scheduling Engineer to join our Platform Operations team and help operate, maintain, and evolve our enterprise batch scheduling environment, centered on Redwood RunMyJobs (RMJ). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational scheduling experience — and curiosity for automation and AI — to grow into a specialist role within a multinational IT organization.

You will work alongside senior engineers, SAP Basis, and Application teams, contributing to the day-to-day reliability of business-critical jobs across SAP and non-SAP platforms, and helping us build smarter, more automated workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, deploy, and monitor batch jobs and job chains in Redwood RunMyJobs, following team standards and best practices.
• Handle day-to-day scheduling tasks: job creation, modifications, calendar updates, dependency management, and user requests.
• Monitor batch execution, identify failures, perform first- and second-level troubleshooting, and escalate to senior engineers when needed.
• Build and maintain scheduling workflows for SAP and non-SAP applications under senior guidance.
• Contribute to automation initiatives: scripting repetitive scheduling tasks, building reusable workflow templates, improving operational tooling.
• Document configurations, procedures, and runbooks; keep the knowledge base up to date.
• Participate in release cycles, change management, and testing of scheduling changes.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in IT operations, application support, or batch scheduling.
• Working knowledge of at least one batch scheduling tool — Redwood RunMyJobs preferred, but experience with SAP CPS, Control-M, Tivoli, AutoSys, or native SAP SM36/SM37 is valuable.
• Familiarity with SAP environments — understanding of background jobs, basic Basis concepts, or transports.
• Basic scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar) and willingness to grow them.
• Understanding of operating systems (Linux and/or Windows) at user level.
• Solid troubleshooting mindset and ability to dig into logs and documentation.
• Good communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Nice to Have

• Hands-on or training exposure to Redwood RunMyJobs.
• Curiosity for AI and automation: interest or experimentation with LLMs, AI assistants, or modern automation tools — applied to scripting, documentation, workflow design, or operational tasks.
