Job Description


Purpose of the role



To design frameworks, provide governance of model risk, controls, infrastructure and reporting as well as providing oversight for compliance of the Model Owner community with the Model Risk Management framework 




Accountabilities



  • Development, maintenance and management of a globally consistent model risk framework that complies with the firm’s major regulatory requirements.
  • Delivery of model inventory and workflow, including associated data quality & reporting and oversight of Quantitative Processes.
  • Assessment of the controls employed by the various areas of Barclays that own models to determine their level of compliance with and implementation of the Model Risk Framework.
  • Establishment of the Model risk appetite. Model risk tolerance reports are provided to the respective Group level and legal entity committees where relevant.
  • Management of the strategic Validation Center of Excellence, performing independent quality assurance to assess whether validation outcomes are well supported by IVU’s assessment of the model.
  • Oversight of regulatory and audit responses and interactions within MRM.

Purpose of the Role :



The role will report into the Governance Delivery Lead within the Governance & Engagement team and will primarily be responsible for supporting the delivery of key MRM Forums and reporting deliverables, which aim to ensure effective communication, improve accountability and transparency, and enable informed decision making. The role will also be responsible for identifying and supporting delivery of continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the overall governance, reporting and engagement framework. In addition, the role will also be required to support ad-hoc tactical and strategic deliverables as part of the broader MRM mandate and roadmap.




Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong comprehension skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical, risk, and governance materials and identify the most relevant points.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interrogate data and information to extract key themes and insights.
  • Active listening and stakeholder‑engagement skills, ensuring accurate understanding of discussions, concerns, and decisions across seniority levels.
  • Advanced summarisation and synthesis abilities, capable of transforming detailed or technical information into clear, concise, decision‑ready outputs.
  • Proven ability to operate within a reporting and governance environment, with an emphasis on producing high‑quality written outputs.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort working in a dynamic environment with multiple.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrated ability to document processes and procedures with clarity and precision, ensuring that operational workflows are accurately captured, well‑structured, and easy for stakeholders to follow.
  • Able to apply strong presentation-design principles to create slides that are engaging, intuitive and aligned to governance expectations.
  • Skilled in using reporting and visualisation tools.
  • Strong understanding of Model Risk Management frameworks, and the Barclays Control Framework.
