In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As an Application Architect specializing in Cloud Data Modernization, you will lead and build data modernization and transformation solutions, working closely with technical leads, database administrators, and database developers. You will provide recommendations and solutions for large-scale data migrations and Extract/Transform/Load activities across various data and database technologies. Your primary responsibilities will include: * Design Data Migration Solutions: Develop and implement data migration solutions that meet business requirements, leveraging cloud technologies and agile development methodologies. This includes transforming business requirements into technical specifications and developing prototypes and proof of concepts for specified business challenges. * Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with technical leads, database administrators, and database developers to provide recommendations and solutions for data modernization and transformation initiatives. * Develop Scalable Solutions: Assist clients in architecting scalable, highly available data migration solutions that meet their business needs. * Lead Data ETL Activities: Oversee Extract/Transform/Load activities for multiple data and database technologies, including data transformation of business rules between COTS systems. * Prototype and Test Solutions: Develop prototypes and proof of concepts to test and validate data migration solutions.

Required technical and professional expertise

* Data Modernization Expertise: Experience with designing and implementing data modernization and transformation solutions, including data migration and Extract/Transform/Load activities across various data and database technologies. * Cloud Technology Knowledge: Experience with cloud technologies, including cloud-based data migration solutions and agile development methodologies. * Data ETL Activities: Experience with data ETL activities, including data transformation of business rules between COTS systems, and familiarity with data transformation tools such as IBM InfoSphere DataStage, Informatica PowerCenter, Microsoft SSIS, and Oracle Data Integrator. * Database Management: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Amazon RDS, as well as Data Lake technologies and data warehousing solutions. * Technical Specification Development: Experience with transforming business requirements into technical specifications, and developing prototypes and proof of concepts for specified business challenges.

Preferred technical and professional experience

* Data Warehousing Knowledge: Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and Data Lake technologies is beneficial for this role. Experience with transforming data warehouses to Data Lake solutions is a plus. * Scripting Language Skills: Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python is advantageous for data transformation and ETL activities. * Data Transformation Tools: Experience with additional data transformation tools beyond those listed in the required expertise, such as XML and JSON, is desirable.
