Lecturer/Associate Professor in AI and Prescriptive Decision Systems for Smart Manufacturing

Faculty of Engineering and Materials Science (EMS) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate to join the Department of Design and Production Engineering program. We invite applications for a full-time academic position in the field of AI and Prescriptive Decision Systems for Smart Manufacturing at the rank of Lecturer or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications and experience.
Position Summary:
This position is intended for candidates who have a strong, focused research identity in next-generation industrial AI, with proven contributions to causal modeling, decision optimization, and real-time intelligent control in production systems.
The successful candidate will lead research and teaching in the following fields:
• Causality-driven AI
• Prescriptive maintenance and decision intelligence
• Supervisory and autonomous control systems
• AI enabled Cyber Physical Production Systems (CPPS)
• Digitalization and Industry 4.0
• Digital twins and model-based engineering
• Control systems & Automation
Qualifications Required:
• A Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field with specialization in AI, smart manufacturing, or intelligent production systems.
• Technical Expertise: Mastery of Artificial Intelligence in production, Causality analysis, Machine Learning for perspective maintenance and control systems, and Cloud-based Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Experience in Programming: Python, MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, ROS, PLCs, SCADA systems, Cloud platforms / edge computing, Industry collaboration or applied research experience, virtual commissioning tools (e.g., Siemens, Dassault, etc.)
• Demonstrated research track record with publications in reputable journals.
• Experience in funded or collaborative research projects is an asset.
• Strong communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to innovation in teaching and research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach courses in Industry 4.0, AI in production
• Supervise student projects and theses.
• Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable international journals.
• Engage in curriculum development and continuous improvement of teaching materials.
• Contribute to departmental and university service activities.
• Foster partnerships with industry and participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.
