With less than a week left for the New Year, we at Bayt.com want to celebrate your continuous effort and support by extending a few little gifts to tie up the end of the year nicely. As the New Year draws close, annual appraisals do, too. This is a critical time for your career and it is important that you handle this period gracefully and efficiently.
Most people like to consider themselves incredibly good at giving and receiving feedback in addition to being reflective, self-aware and proactive. Unfortunately, most of us also have the tendency to overestimate or underestimate our abilities and skills, fail to recall some of our achievements over the past year or focus solely on the good without considering the bad.
This is absolutely natural. When we look back at our year, it is important to be positive and properly weigh your achievements, growth and personal success. However, in order to move forward and grow more in the future, we also need to be reflective and adequately measure our shortcomings and blunders. It is only through embracing our flaws and learning from our mistakes that we can grow as professionals and as people.
In this week’s episode of Bayt.com’s Career Talk, our very own Hatem Hannoun will take you through the appraisal process with five solid tips that will guarantee success.
How do you feel about appraisal season? When you look back at 2017, what are your main takeaways in terms of both success and downfalls? Do you have any advice for appraisal newbies who will be facing their first performance appraisal this year?
