Question from Job Seeker: I graduate in 6 months time and was wondering if you could help me figure out which country is offering the best salaries for Fresh Grads today in the Middle East region. I have a plan to launch my own small business in Telecoms in Lebanon in 5 years time but I first want to make sure I have the experience and the capital needed. Please advise!

We are happy to let you know that Telecommunications is one of the hottest industries in the region today and one that is attracting and retaining Top talent according to Bayt.com’s most recent Job Index Survey. As far as salaries and benefits are concerned, salary expectations of respondents of course differ between one country and another. A recent Bayt.com Survey about Fresh Graduates in the region showed that respondents in UAE & Qatar are the ones who expect the highest pays – 2000 to 3000 $ whereas Egypt and Jordan have shown much lower expectations- however expectations of benefits were quite similar across most of the countries surveyed. Fresh graduates expect to receive, apart from their basic salary, a bonus (with 45% of overall votes) and a personal medical insurance (with 40% of overall votes). The good news is fresh graduates are usually taking not more than 3 months to secure employment, and thus we advise you to start your research and job applications at the earliest.
