No matter how bad you think your day is, you can always turn it around. We’ve all been there; sometimes you just wake up with that obvious “bad mood syndrome”, and everything after that just doesn’t go right. But you know what they say, happiness is a choice. So choose to turn any bad day around and be happy. Thankfully, we have made this choice easier for you. All you have to do is try these 5 simple things and see how your day goes.
When you’re at work, leave your desk and take a walk. You could go to a colleague’s desk and have a non-electronic conversation. Try to put yourself in a different physical location and you will see how it shifts your mood instantaneously.
Try to do one thing that your brain will consider an accomplishment, and this will make you feel immediately victorious. It could be as simple as picking up a healthy snack as opposed to junk food, sending a thank you message, or even praising someone. Here are some of the good deeds we've done last year.
They say a lot of bad days start because we set unrealistic expectations, so try to make a list of 3 things that you can definitely get done in any given day, and then feel satisfied when you complete them. Don’t try to fit in all the things that you have to do.
When you’re really feeling the blues and thinking how bad your day is going, just grab a sticky note and pen to write down 5 things you’re grateful for. It could be as simple as “I’m happy that it’s a sunny day today.” Or it could be someone you feel grateful to have in your life. Keep the sticky note by your PC so you can take a look at those 5 things as often as needed.
The next time you feel like you’re having a bad day, make a note of what went wrong. This could be really helpful for you to learn what triggers the stress and how to cope with it in the future.
